|2010 Scout National Archery Competition|
|Written by Karl Day|
May 8th and 9th 2010
The Scout National Archery Competition is open to anyone in Scouting from cubs (over the age of 8 years) through to leaders. I am looking to take a team from 1st Nailsea Scouts to the competition which is being held just outside of Hemel Hempstead in Heartfordshire. We shall be going on the Friday night and returning on the Sunday Evening. The cost will be about £45 per person to be confirmed once we know how many want to go and travelling costs.
The competition will consist of either 20 yard or 40 yard Target Archery plus Clout Shooting and Field Archery.
Target Archery is where you shoot at a target at a fixed distance and stood vertically in front of you.
Clout Shooting is where the target is a flag in the middle of a field with rings around it and you score by being as close to the flag as possible. This involves shooting upwards.
Field Archery involves running around a course and shooting at various targets at differing distances.
It is all good fun. There is also a disco on the Saturday night and other forms of activity.
I am looking for a team of about 10 archers. We shall also require some additional bodies to cook and help look after the scouts while on camp. The additional bodies will not be expected to pay for the weekend.
